Ava Lynam

Born in 1989 in Dublin.
Ava Lynam joined the China Center as a research assistant in
January 2021. She previously completed the international MSc. Urban
Management program at Technische Universität Berlin. Prior to
this, she worked between London and Dublin as an urban designer
on public realm, urban strategy, large-scale housing, and community
engagement projects. Ava has particular experience living and working
in Southeast Asia, having grown up in the region. She holds previous
degrees in Architecture from the University of Nottingham, and Urban
Design from the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL,
London.
Ava currently coordinates the Urban Rural Assembly (BMBF)
project team at the China Center, while conducting her doctoral
research on the local socio-spatial impact of Chinese regional
urban-rural transformation. Previously, she worked on this project as
a student research assistant as part of the Habitat Unit team. Her
research interests lie in the fields of urban sociology, co-productive
planning approaches, land dynamics, and rural urbanisation
processes.
