China has a long, rich intellectual history and scholarly tradition. The country and the Chinese society have also embraced many foreign ideas, such as Buddhism, Marxism-Leninism or feminism, and adapted them to local conditions. This course will examine the importance of geographical mobility in knowledge production. We will look at China’s incoming and outgoing migration, as well as import and export of ideas. What role has people-to-people exchange played in the development of the People`s Republic of China? To answer such questions, students will train critical thinking and argumentation in English, using their background from different countries of origin and/or various study disciplines.
